Indian Summer
Indian Summer
By Muriel Palanca
You made me believe the world would always be enough
Because it had you in it.
But that's not true.
I am enough.
I am a force of nature.
I am poetry and anarchy,
Devastation and all its beauty,
Luscious rain and Indian summer.
You can keep everything I gave you:
All the things you threw away.
And I'll be ok. Truly.
But there are times when
I'm on the brink of dissolving into
a million little pieces
And I'm surprised it would be that many
Because you still have
So much
Of me.
